Our day started with a fresh pizza, probably for the first time in my life before ten o’clock. This one was massive, taking a pedestal to hold it. I stuffed three slices and took one for the road.
In my case, the pizza load made for a difficult climb out of Kladovo. The heat and roadwork added to my going inward and quietly breathing. Patience is so important in travel. I’d rather be out here hitting highs and lows than living a rather predictable, sheltered life.
We were all a little staggered out today, playing leap frog. I accidentally found Kelley at a restaurant (his bike was parked in back). This turned into an unexpected vortex, sucking us in with water, iced coffee, ice cream and lemonade. We came to our senses after three hours.
Cycling nonstop to Negotin, Isaac texted that he had found a spot for cyclists at only 6.5€ each. The place was fantastic; we should have put him in charge of lodging long ago.

EuroVelo Sign #2580:
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move. (Robert Lewis Stevenson)
