Verdun sur le Doubs, France - July 13, 2018

The focus today, outside of rolling by these mirror-like waterways, was getting some housekeeping done. Waking early, we cycled twenty-five kilometers into Chalon-sur-Saône. After locking the bikes and wandering the city (ice cream bars purchased), we found a laundromat just off the route.

The place was a glimpse into the future of washing. Machines could be started using a credit card at a central pay station. Detergent was automatically added. Being down to my last change of clothes, I was in heaven. Had I seen the owner, I would have suggested the addition of free WiFi and charging outlets.
A barber was doing business fifteen steps away from the laundromat. We both enjoyed a shampoo and a cut while our clothes cartwheeled. Having virtually no hair while cycling in the heat has its benefits.

We ended the evening with a wonderful ice cream dish just inside the city of Verdun. Cycling for hours each day allows one to disregard caloric input. It’s very difficult to keep weight on the body using this means of travel.
Note: We are currently traveling the Saone River.
