After getting another slow start, we cycled through fields of sunflowers and small towns. "Diversity" is a word that summarizes our tour today.
The city of Gien turned out to be our major stop. In town, we pulled the brakes at an inexpensive kebab joint and sat down for a large meal. This indulgence was followed by afternoon lethargy. Listening, briefly, to a Beatles cover band in the town plaza, I could barely keep my eyes open.
Cycling over the Loire, we quickly found a small park. My hammock was removed from captivity in my saddlebags and hung from a tree and a bike post. Kelley unrolled my yoga mat. I was immediately visited by the Sandman.
Upon waking, we cycled a few more kilometers toward Chatillon. Llamas and land otters were spotted in transit. "Shake the Disease" by Depeche Mode prompted a large llama to emerge from its shed. He appeared to enjoy the beat.
Our tenting spot was the best yet, right on the river; we paid 4.5€. The sunset capped yet another inspiring day on the planet.
Note (Progress): It’s a bittersweet moment; we are currently halfway across the country of France. Soon, we will say goodbye to the mighty Loire for new waters.
Note (Bicycle): The bicycle is the most perfect vehicle for exploring a country. With very little effort, we have carried everything that we need, in a short time, a fairly reasonable distance across France.
The automobile is overrated.
