We have descended into joy.
Upon leaving the campground, we climbed giant asphalt waves to the crest of the Danube Valley. Our effort produced sweat and views of green fields. Plunging into the trough was a thrill. I pulled my brakes several times. It’s hard to believe we have reached the beginning of the Danube, a river that, if taken to its end, empties into the Black Sea.

Cycling along the river today was unlike any other we have encountered. Open rock faces greeted us around every corner. Young forests were everywhere with very little human development. I cycled slower, taking it all in.
Come here, if you can.
Rain had been threatening all day long. At seven in the evening, we decided to free camp a field bordering the Danube. After commencing setup, rain began to fall. We both hustled the tents up and dove in right before the sky opened. I set up all of my bedding and furnishings as the rain crushed the tent fly.
I think my bike chain will need oil after tonight.
Idiotic Extra (Definition): The excess distance cycled after losing the main route.
