La Possonniere, France - June 28, 2018

As we move further inland on the Loire, the scenery has become increasingly attractive. This route is almost exclusively on designated bike paths or less-trafficked roads. If this is what we can expect through France, I question why the world is not out here cycling. So far, we have seen very few humans cycling east.

At midday, we rolled into a park with food that we had purchased earlier. A Parisian cyclist requested that we join him at a picnic table. After a conversation about bicycle infrastructure, Brexit and Elon Musk’s projects, we settled in for a nap. I enjoyed unpacking my hammock and slipping in for what ended up being a couple of hours of rest, rocked lightly by the wind. Could this lifestyle be a catalyst for peace?
There is freedom in simplicity.
Later in the evening, we stopped by the Lenin Cafe. The quaint little bar was situated directly adjacent to the bike path. The red and white theme on the outside of the building was carried through to the inside, culminating in a small museum dedicated to the Russian leader in the rear. Pictures of Marx were prominent. It’s easy to talk politics in such a place. We’re all dreamers. I should have purchased a shirt.

We ended the evening in La Possonniere, eating a dinner at a small restaurant overlooking the Loire. A campsite was located adjacent to the business, making it an easy choice to retire for the evening.
